About the BTMA

The BTMA since its formation in 1997, is a steadily growing Taekwondo academy in the United Kingdom, part of the ever expanding World Mudo Academy, embracing the true values of Mudo, the 'spirit of the martial art'.

Our vision is that Taekwondo is not the porperty of one nation, it belongs to everyone in the world who chooses its way, irrespective of gender, age, or ability. Taekwondo is not simply about who can kick the highest, or who wins the most medals. It is about the development of oneself, a science of our human potentials and a way to enhance our natural abilities. A journey into our inner self - a cultivation of our outer self. A fabulous journey bringing about richer perception of ourselves and others.

In adopting the way of Mudo, an individual practices Taekwondo in it's integrity. Every aspect of the art is taken into consideration and given the appropriate attention so as to ensure that the individual gets optimal results during training as well as precise and profound understanding of what this Korean art is all about.

As much as the traditional approach is emphasized, the sport aspect of the art has not been neglected. On the the contrary, modern Kyurugi Taekwondo enthusiasts have much to gain from the way of Mudo. As we all know, mental control, stress and injuries inevitably plays a great role in the delicate equilibrium of competitors, affecting more often than not their performances. Mudo provides the essentials for better mental concentration and stress control as well as minimizing risks of injuries through appropriate training methods. To this aim do host regular competitions, which not only encompass sparring, but all the traditional apsects such as patterns and self defense

In order to realise our vision, and develop our martial arts community, we adopt the following key principles :

Instruction

All of our instructors have a genuine belief in the Mudo way, and conduct their training sessions with this motivation and enthusiasm.

All of instructors understand the need to fully support their students at every level.

All of our instructors have a full CRB check in place, and are registered BTC instructors.

We have developed a fully comprehensive Child Protection policy.

We aim to provide the highest possible standards and quality of our teaching by continuous development of our instructors, their teaching methods and syllabus. We hold regular instructor seminars, to keep instructors up to date with the very latest legislation and best practices.

We actively encourage our network of clubs to work together, and communcate effectively in all aspects, using various methods including our dedicated website forum.

Membership

We ensure full participation in Taekwondo for all people, irrespective of Age, Gender, Race, Religion of Disability.

We remain open and transparent in all our activities, and where possible actively encourage the particpation from other Instructors, Students, Parents and Volunteers.

We actively encourage all Taekwondo practitioners to join our ever growing number of members, whether as associate or full members.
